H2Global foreseen as European Instrument for International Activities of European Hydrogen Bank

Salzgitter, May 31st, 2023 – H2Global Stiftung is honored to announce the decision by Kadri Simpson, European Commissioner for Energy designating H2Global as the European instrument responsible for implementing the international activities of the European Hydrogen Bank. This landmark announcement is supported by Robert Habeck, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The recommendation of H2Global fills us with pride and reinforces our dedication to driving the hydrogen revolution on a global scale.

Building upon our expertise gained from launching and conducting the world's first international auction for hydrogen products in December 2022, H2Global is well-equipped with the flexibility and modularity required to effectively fulfill this important role. We look forward to initiating a joint European auction, leveraging our market-based instrument.

H2Global has always been designed to operate at the European level. We are delighted that, alongside the planned implementation in the Netherlands, H2Global will now extend its reach to encompass the entirety of Europe. This expansion will ensure the necessary scale to attract large-scale producers of renewable hydrogen and foster the European offtake.

This development marks a significant milestone as H2Global moves to new levels, functioning as a truly comprehensive European funding instrument. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the exciting opportunities that lie ahead, and we are thrilled to establish a joint European auction through H2Global.
